Unavoidable Closure Arrangements

Dear Parents,

If the school has to call an unavoidable school closure a text message will be sent out (please ensure we always have your most up to date mobile phone number), it will be announced on Radio Lancashire on FM 103.9 and the closure will be posted on the school’s website on www.laneshawbridgeschool.org.uk

Please be mindful that many staff live a good distance from school and conditions may be quite different locally to other areas of Lancashire. We would obviously have to call an unavoidable school closure if insufficient staff were able to make a safe journey to school. If poor weather were to arrive during the school day, we would try to send as many pupils home as possible so that staff could undertake their journey home in relatively safe conditions, please check the text message system and/or the school website if the weather turns unpleasant during the school day.

Any unavoidable school closure will also affect the breakfast and after school clubs, which will not run if the school has had to be closed, even if conditions improve  later in the day.

Hopefully we will not have occasion to implement these arrangements, but it is useful to have an emergency plan.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs J Sharples.
